ReelShort Drama App Review
ReelShort is an HD streaming platform offering exclusive vertical TV videos, series, and movies. The app is designed for mobile viewing. It is owned by a Chinese company, COL Group, a publicly listed company. The Chinese Web-Literature Company, COL group has a California-based subsidiary known as Crazy Maple Studio, the name you often hear in some of the dramas.
The ReelShort app is gaining traction as a unique platform for watching bite-sized, high-quality drama across multiple genres, although romance is the most popular genre featured in the app. Tailored for fans of short-form content, ReelShort provides users with quick yet engaging episodes, often running between 5 to 10 minutes. It is a refreshing approach to video entertainment, especially for audiences looking for captivating narratives but are tight on time.

Pros
There are some advantages of the ReelShort app that the users have identified. Here are some that I came across.
- Convenient Format: Short episodes make it easy to watch anytime, anywhere without committing to a lengthy viewing session. This is quite convenient if you just need a little distraction to clear your mind.
- Affordable Subscription: Typically more budget-friendly than larger streaming platforms. You can also get some episodes free.
- Addictive Storytelling: The cliffhanger endings and high drama quotient keep viewers engaged.
- Regularly Updated Content: Frequent updates with new stories keep the experience fresh. You can also always view the dramas you have seen before and love to see again.
- Great for Social Media Enthusiasts: Many series appeal to those who love trending social media stories, with relatable, snappy plotlines.
Cons
- Limited Library Compared to Mainstream Apps: Content quantity is relatively small, focusing on short series rather than an extensive library. Also, the app is quite new, and we cannot say what to expect yet.
- Variable Production Quality: While many series are well-produced, quality can vary across different shows depending on the producer and other factors.
- Ads in Free Version: While there’s a free version, ads can interrupt the flow, which may detract from the storytelling experience.
- Restricted to Mobile: The app is primarily mobile-oriented, so it doesn’t provide a full-screen, cinematic experience on larger screens.

What Users Say
Some users say that they enjoy using the ReelShort app. The stories are intriguing and they get invested in the shows, enjoying the plots every step of the way. Some say that they like the use of ads and coins and that it gives the feel of watching shows on cable TV.
Another aspect of the positive review is related to the length of the episodes and how each episode ends in a suspenseful mode, urging you t keep viewing.
Despite the positive reviews, some users are dissatisfied with the Reelshort app. This group of users complains about the pricing. Some say it is expensive compared to the value they get. Other complaints in this regard include poor acting, subtitles not matching the voice and mouth movement of the actors, and repetitive story plots.
Many Reddit users admit to using the app and have described it in very interesting ways. Here are some of the descriptors I came across –
– “Positively awful”
– “I often look for a female character wearing that pair of ugly white shoes.”
– “… although it’s very crappy it’s actually really good.”
– “…It’s corny, the acting is not always passable but it makes us laugh at the silliness of it all.”
– “…I’m obsessed with them, I love some of the actors and even follow them on Instagram.”
– “The endings are always so mediocre and dumb too but can’t stop watching.”
– “Hate it. I don’t mind ads but that app is ridiculous. 1.5 minutes isn’t an episode. That is a scene.”
Final Verdict:
For fans of drama who enjoy brief, highly engaging content, the ReelShort Drama app is a fantastic option. Its format is perfect for anyone looking for quick entertainment without a major time investment, though viewers should be prepared for ad interruptions in the free version.
For viewers interested in long episodic dramas, the ReelShort app may not be the best choice.
Given the low-cost premium option, it’s a highly accessible service, and worth considering for fans of short-form storytelling and suspenseful drama series.
