Faridah Abike Iyimide: Biography and List of Books

Faridah Abike Iyimide is a British-Nigerian author best known for her debut novel Ace of Spades. She was born in London, England, in the late 1990s. Faridah grew up in a multicultural community and has always loved reading and writing stories, especially those that reflect her background and identity.

She studied Literature and English at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. During her time at university, she began writing Ace of Spades, a powerful thriller that talks about racism, privilege, and injustice in school systems. The book follows two Black students at a private school who face a mysterious and threatening situation. It has been described as a mix of Gossip Girl and Get Out.

Aces of Spades was published in 2021 when Faridah was in her early 20s. It became a bestseller and won praise for its bold storytelling and honest look at race and class. The book has been translated into several languages and was even optioned for a TV adaptation.

Faridah is passionate about diversity in publishing. She wants to make sure more stories by Black and marginalized authors are seen and heard. In interviews, she talks about the importance of young people seeing themselves in the books they read.

Even though she is young, Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé has already made a big impact in the world of literature. She continues to write and inspire young writers around the world.
